Woman Live Streams Suicide Bid Alleging Harassment By Apartment Secretary; Rescued

The woman shows the sleeping tablet sheets before consuming all the tablets in a bid to commit suicide which she live-streamed on Facebook.

Hyderabad: A married woman live-streamed her suicide attempt on Facebook was rescued by the police on Wednesday. A resident of Fatima Residency in Upparpally under Rajendranagar police limits livestreamed her suicide attempt which she allegedly resorted to due to the harassment by her apartment secretary Saleem.

Police said Saleem posted the woman's pictures on Facebook in an objectionable manner. Depressed by the act of Saleem, the woman attempted to commit suicide and she demanded severe punishment to her tormentor. Sitting the camera, The woman spilled around 60 sleeping tablets from six sheets and swalled them at once and drank water. Then she spoke on the camera stating that the secretary of the apartment society caused her mental agony by posting her pictures on a Facebook page.

"Saleem should be punished in such a way that no man can dare harass a woman like he did to me," the woman spoke into the camera. She said sorry to her husband and children for committing suicide but said she could live no longer with the insult meted out to her by Saleem.

After receiving an alert about the woman's suicide attempt, Rajendranagar police swung into action and identified the woman's flat in Upparpally. She was found in an unconscious state but was recovering after the police shifted her to a hospital.

The police said a case was registered against Saleem on the basis of the complaint by the woman.
