Woman Claims She was Raped by Pokemon Go Character

Moscow: A Russian woman claimed that she was raped by a Pokemon Go character after she played the phone-based game and went to bed.

The woman alleged, that she woke up to find a Pokemon character on top of her in the bed. The woman, whose name was withheld by the police, also lodged a formal complaint with the local police that she was raped. She claimed that a giant Pokemon entered her bedroom and raped her but disappeared when she jumped out of the bed. However, police officials suggested that she should seek psychiatric help. Her claims were also dismissed by her husband, who told police officers that he did not believe her.

The woman also informed her friends that their pet dog can also sense Pokemon characters in her bedroom and that the dog barks whenever she plays Pokemon Go. The woman, however, scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist. Pokemon GO was launched in July 2016 and has since become a huge hit among young and old alike.

The gaming app uses GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokemon, who appear on screen as if they were in the same real-world location as the player.
