TRS rules out alliance with Congress in AP

Putting all speculations to rest, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao on Saturday ruled out electoral alliance with Congress.

In a development that could spell disaster for Congress's fortunes in Telangana, KCR refused to align with the grand old party.

Addressing his party workers at the Telangana Bhavan, KCR challenged Congress and said that he will see whether Congress MLAs would join TRS or vice versa. "Let's see from tomorrow if TRS MLAs will join the Congress or the reverse will happen. Fight will begin from tomorrow."

He added, "As per the wishes of public, we are not going to merge with Congress."

He accused Congress leaders saying that the latter's names appeared only in Telangana martyrs' suicide notes.  "But now they started a drama saying they will give tickets to kin of those victims in the coming elections," he said.

Interestingly,  the TRS chief claimed that he initially accepted the proposal for merger so as to  stop the indiscriminate students suicides.

In a veiled reference to AICC General Secretary Digvijaya Singh for his remarks against the TRS party, KCR questioned "Same leaders have been claiming that KCR betrayed them but what was the betrayal."

After KCR's announcement, Telangana PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that KCR had promised to merge with Congress, however the latter can face elections alone.
