Planning to buy a car, then now is the time. Car makers are offering discounts and other freebies to woo the customers in December. The reasons for the windfall in four-wheeler discounts is not difficult to find. Several factors are adding up to tempt the car buyer. They include:
- Rising inventory levels at the dealers
- Rush to clear the inventory before the year-end
- Reports of price hike by car makers from January 2018
Compared to 2016, the inventory levels are high at dealers of various car manufacturers across the country in December 2017. Therefore, the discounts which are 10-15% more than same period last year. Demonetisation and implementation of GST are only a couple of factors that have left the dealers with mounting car stocks. Boom in used car sales, preference for second hand cars and easy availability of cabs across cities are some of the other reasons for the surge in new car inventory. Even luxury car makers such as Audi are not left behind and are offering discounts in the range of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh. Honda, Tata Motors, Ford, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Hyundai, Volkswagen and ofcourse market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited are among those offering discounts.
