The spectators at the Australian Open on Monday experienced a new sensation in making. South Korean tennis player Chung Hyeon stunned former world No. 1 and six-time champion Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open in a sensational fourth-round defeat. In fact he made the world to look at him for this extra-ordinary feat. A sneak-peek into the rise of the 21-year-old youngster and also his country's first grand slam semi-finalist.

On Monday night, he broke into limelight in a dramatic fashion by beating his childhood idol Djokovic. Growing up, Chung looked up to Djokovic because of his "fantastic game and mental strength". It was a dream-come-true for Chung as he remembered copying Djokovic when he was child.

Chung picked up tennis when he was six years old with his parents and continued playing after doctors recommended that looking at the colour green would help with his weak eyesight. He has received training in the Unites States as well. His father, Seok-Jin, was a tennis player and is now a tennis coach, and his older brother, Hong, plays the game too.

His first breakthrough came in 2015. That year, he climbed 122 places in the world rankings to finish the season as the world No. 51. He was also very rightly voted the "Most Improved Player of the Year" in the annual Association of Tennis Professionals awards.
