What's brewing between Cong and TDP?

What's cooking between the Congress and the TDP? In a rather unusual development that raised many an eyebrow,Chandrababu Naidu had a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for five minutes. What could have transpired in those five minutes?

There are rumours that TDP chief Chandrababu is cosying up to the Congress, though for public consumption he says he had gone to the Delhi to seek parties' opinion on reservation. He handed over a letter to Manmohan on 6th September at 12:30 in the noon along with their party leaders.

Twenty minutes after their meeting started, Chandra Babu is said to have made gestures and asked his party persons to leave the room, leaving him closeted with the PM for five minutes.  It was reported that Chandrababu stepped out sporting a smile. Among the topics that are likely to have been discussed are--the Telangana issue, Kadapa MP Y.S.Jagan’s case, mid-term elections, coal-gate issue, and change of ministers in the home state.

Talking to the media, Chandrababu says that it would not make much of a difference whether the Prime Minister resigns or doesn’t . Meanwhile, the BJP is very adamant about the PM’s resignation.

After NDTV’s survey which had predicted a YSRCP sweep in the next  general elections in 2014, what is it that Chandrababu go and meet the Prime Minister personally?

He may have also given his two cents' worth opinion on the vexatious Telangana issue, say sources. More than anything else, Chandrababu would have sought his pound of flesh by assuring the PM that the TDP will extend its support to the Congress and ensure its survival, confirms a source from TDP.

After Dr. Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy’s demise, Chandrababu saved Congress on many occasions, surely not without reason, according to analysts. In spite of immense political pressure on him, he did not press for a no-confidence motion in the State Assembly. Back then, it is believed that Chandrababu had also assured Sonia Gandhi and Ahmed Patel over phone that Congress would never face any problem from his side. In return, Ahmed Patel said that he would be asked for support when needed.

Chandrababu is also reported to have met a high-profile leader of Congress leadership without any security late in the night, during his two-day Delhi trip back then in 2011. Later, P.Chidambaram had also confirmed in the Lok Sabha that Chandra Babu had met him. After the demise of late Chief Minister, Dr.Y.S.Rajashekhar Reddy, there was news of Chandrababu Naidu paying frequent visits of Ministers of State and Centre. So even now there must be a reason big enough for a closed door meeting.

This unholy nexus between the Opposition and the ruling party at the highest level is unheard of in the annals of Andhra Pradesh. Let's see where it leads us to.....
