Hyderabad: Weekend trip turned fatal for nine youths in the Telugu states on Sunday.

Three girls were among nine people who died after they drowned in different water bodies. In Visakhapatnam, three youngsters met a watery grave when they got into reservoir at L Kothapalli village of Madugula mandal in the district. The youngsters got into the water body to take bath. However, the deceased could not gauge the depth of the water and drowned immediately as they could not swim. All the victims were residents of Vizag city, the police said. The police recovered the bodies and registered a case.

In Adilabad district of Telangana, two youngsters went missing on Sunday at famous Kuntala falls near Neredigonda. The victims were identified as Ansar and Faisal who got into the water body to take selfies. The victims slipped into the water and could not swim back to safety. They were residents of Argul village of Jakranpally mandal in Nizamabad district and came to Kuntala falls during the weekend along with three other friends in the village. Ansar was a bike mechanic while his friend Faisal was a contract employee in Telangana power department.

Meanwhile, In Vikarabad, four minors were drowned in a water body near Bhuranpur village of Bomraspet mandal in the district. All the victims were identified as Sivaleela, Bheri, Keerthana and Yakub.
