Kirlampudi: Strongly criticising the TDP government's decision to table the Kapu reservation bill in the AP Assembly and proposing 5 percent reservation, Kapu agitation leader Mudragada Padmanabham said the community wants 10 per cent reservation.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, the agitation leader said chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is misleading the people with the proposed 5 per cent reservation. "We demand 10 per cent reservation and inclusion of kapus in the Ninth Schedule before March 31, 2018. If the government fails to meet the March 31 deadline then the Kapu community has its own plans to fight for its rights," Padmanabham.

"It is wrong for Chandrababu Naidu to state that YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is provoking the Kapu community or backing the Kapu agitation. The chief minister should first fulfill the promises he has made instead of tarnishing the image of those demanding reservation for Kapus," Mudragada Padmanabham said while clarifying that the Kapu agitation will be put on hold till March 31.
