Vishwashanthi Homam at Prasthanthi Nilayam

It's raining devotees at Prasthanthi Nilayam in Puttaparthi. The place where one of the most powerful spiritual gurus of India, Sri Sathya Sai Baba dwelled before leaving his body on this day two years ago.

Today is the second anniversary of his Samadhi day. Thousands of followers, devotees of Sathya Sai Baba have thronged his ashram at Puttaparthi in Ananthpuram district as well as his whitefield ashram Brindavanam near Bangalore.
The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation volunteers have organised several programmes to observe t the day including distribution to free food and clothes to thousands of people who are flooding the place to pay their homage to th noble soul.
Sai fraternity’s greater commitment to World Peace got a fillip on Monday with the commencement of the three-day Vishwa Shanti Loka Kalyana Homam on Monday morning in Prasanthi Nilayam. The three-day Vishwa Shanthi Homam was  organised as part of the Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam 2013 and is aimed at World Peace.
The specially erected, well decked up, Yajna Mandap had the fire-pit at the centre, facing the Seat Of The Divine; Idols of Eternal Divine Parents, Lord Shiva along with Mother Parvathi, along with Kalashas, adorned a make-shift podium set next to the fire-pit.
Initial proceedings for the Homa began at 0600 hrs. with Swasthi Vachanam, Ganapathi Puja, Punyaha Vachanam followed by Sri Sathya Sai Ashothara Archana.
Even as the priests retired to the Bhajan Hall, for Vastra Dhaanam, Veda Chanting by the students continued until they returned after Dheeksha Dharanam to continue with further proceedings.
Worshipping the cow, Go-Puja, came next, followed by an array of rituals, namely, Ritwik Varanam, Panchagamya Prasnam, Mandapa Aradhanam, Ganapathi Homam, Navagraha VAasthu Pancha Suktha Homam, etc.
Even as the Homam continued, simultaneously worship was also being offered to the Divine Couple by a set of priests.
Bhajans continued until Mangala Arathi offering at 1015 hrs. marking the end of the morning session.

Amidst loud Vedic chantings, well supplemented by nadaswaram music, the programme commenced at 05:45 hrs. with the priests taking out a procession circumambulating Prasanthi Mandir, arriving at the venue.

Satya Sai Baba is among a few religious figures who have put India on the spiritual map of the world. He was not just popular during his life time, but also remains so after his mahasamadhi too.
Baba or Bhagwan baba as he was lovingly known has set up several institutions that offer free services for mankind. Be it the superspecialty hospitals at Puttaparthi and Bangalore or even the Sathya Institute of Higher learning that imparts free education, there have been thousands of beneficiaries of these free programmes.
One of the most significant contributions that the spiritual guru has made to Andhra Pradesh is through the Sathya Sai drinking water project to villages near Ananthapuram which had absolutely no access to drinking water.
Although he left his body, the free services set up by him continue to serve humanity.
