VIPs Make Bee-Line to Medaram
Medaram: Sammakka Saralamma Jatara is an important festival for Telangana, and this calls for many top leaders from Telangana to participate in the tribal fair which started off today. Apart from all the major Telangana leaders, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be visiting Medaram and offer prayers on February 2. This was confirmed by Kadiam Srihari, who has been monitoring the arrangement on hourly basis.
Apart from Telangana CM, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu is likely to visit on February 2, with Governor ESL Narasimhan. According to Telangana BJP, Union minister for tribal affairs, Jual Oram, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes chairman Nand Kumar, they will be accompanied by BJP leaders like Kishan Reddy, Dattatreya and Dr Laxman. They are likely to visit Medaram on February 3.
The Sammakka Saralamma Jatara which started off today, will witness tribal head priest bringing Saralamma from the forest while tomorrow they will bring Sammakka. Both the deities will be placed in Medaram till February 3. On that evening the priests take the deities back to their respective places deep inside the forest and that marks the conclusion of the Jatara.
