Vijayamma writes to PM on loan waiver

YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayamma dashed off a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking implementation of loan waiver scheme for farmers of Andhra Pradesh, who were in neck-deep troubles.

She said the fertilizer prices escalated to 200%, but the support price for paddy was increased to only by 25 per cent. Vijayamma said there was abnormal increase in the prices of seeds and diesel, but the support price of paddy was intact. She quoted an example saying that a bag of urea was just Rs 250 in 2010 but it was Rs 300 in 2012. Similarly, the price of DAP was raised from Rs 500 to Rs 1250 and potash from Rs 225 to Rs 1000, she said requested the Prime Minister to come to the rescue of the AP farmers.
