Vijayamma hits out at government's injustice

The government does not have the right to deprive the poor their education, said YSR Congress party honorary president. Y.S. Vijayamma's deeksha on  fee reimbursement entered (continues) second day.

Vijayamma received the support of scores of parents and students for her deeksha at Indira park on Friday. Students from across the state were seen at the venue backing  Vijayamma's stand. Vijayamma condemned the government's policies on fee reimbursement.  She criticised Chandrababu Naidu, saying he is degrading politics.
She also said the government is displacing its vengeance against YSR on the poor students who are made to struggle. She demanded that the Congress government provide tuition fees reimbursement to all eligible students in Andhra Pradesh. All eligible students of backward classes, minority, EBC and physically-challenged categories should get the benefit of the scheme, started by late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, she said.
She said YSR understood the needs of the poor and knew how to make them happy. The leader always thought the expenditure on the students' education was a social capital investment.
Imposing several conditions in implementing the scheme had caused severe distress to the students, she charged. The YSR Congress legislator found fault with the Government for allegedly treating the fees reimbursement scheme as a heavy burden on the state exchequer. Rajasekhara Reddy implemented the scheme for eligible students without any pre-conditions, she said. The Government is not spending the money from its coffers. It gets revenue in the form of taxes collected from the people and that is meant for welfare programmes only, she maintained.
