CHILAKALURIPETA: YSRCP Chilakaluripeta MLA Vidadala Rajini conducted a surprise check on the Excise station on Tuesday, after receiving information that excise officials were encouraging illegal sale of liquor and taking bribes.She pulled up an Excise head constable named D Ram Prasad for encouraging the sale of liquor even as the Government was working towards total prohibition in the State. As of now, the state government is tightening rules as part of a phased implementation of liquor prohibition.

She played the call recording of the Excise head constable, who was seeking bribes to promote illicit liquor sales, which had come to her notice. Excise SI RVV Prasad also confirmed that it was the voice of Ram Prasad in the call recording. "How can officials who are supposed to protect the interests of Government indulge in such corrupt practices," she questioned. Ram Prasad also confessed that it was his voice, after which the YSRCP MLA called the higher authorities of the Excise department and urged them to take disciplinary action against the head constable.
