Verdict on Jagan's bail petition on Monday

The Andhra Pradesh High Court adjourned the statutory bail petition hearing of YSRCP president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to Monday, December 24.

It is being learnt that the arguments from both Jagan as well as the CBI side was completed today. The court is expected to deliver its verdict on Monday.

Arguments in the statutory bail petition of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had continued for the second day on Thursday at the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

It is being learnt that Jagan's lawyer Padmanabha Reddy presented his argument before the High Court judge with clear proof on how Jagan is being unlawfully detained for such a long period of time which is unconstitutional too considering the 90-day period of custody is already up.
It may be recalled that the court had directed the CBI to submit all the reports pertaining to the case on Wesnesday.
It was justice B Seshasayana who heard the YSRCP president's statutory bail petition. Additional Solicitor General Haren P. Raval represented the CBI. The judge was expected to take a call on the bail today after hearing the arguments from both sides.
It may be mentioned here that the CBI had a tough time yesterday when the judge demanded answers for several important questions regarding the arrest of Kadapa MP.
It seemed as if the CBI was unclear as to the exact reason for arresting Jagan.

The CBI was in for a googly when the judge suddenly asked if Jagan had been arrested only in Vanpic case or any other cases. The CBI quickly replied saying, they had arrested him in Vanpic case alone, which was a revelation for all those present as all along, the CBI had maintained something else!

When the CBI looked hassled and it was clear that it was clueless on what to say, the court adjourned the hearing to Thursday.

The judge on Wednesday also ordered both the CBI and Jagan's counsel to file affidavits.

Jagan had filed a statutory bail and regular bail petitions contending that the CBI had failed to complete its probe before the stipulated deadline. He also argued that he is eligible for bail as the statutory provision of  90 days of police custody is over.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was arrested by the CBI on May 27, 2012 and is presently under judicial remand in Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad.
