Ongole: YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the Veligonda project which would meet the needs of the people of the region would be completed if YSRCP comes to power. He made this commitment to a large gathering at Kanigiri on Saturday afternoon on the 97th day of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra. Addressing a massive public meeting YS Jagan said that with the blessings of the people, this project which would fulfill the needs of this arid region would be completed soon once Rajanna Rajyam was ushered in.

He pointed out that the late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy had envisioned, initiated and completed the Ramatheertham and Gundlakamma projects to meet the drinking water needs of the Kandukuru region. Work progressed briskly during the late Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s period, he reminded the large gathering. In contrast, in Chandrababu Naidu's time, work on the project slowed down to a near halt, YS Jagan pointed out.

Addressing the public meeting, Ongole MP YV Subba Reddy said that for the past four years the Chandrababu Naidu government had deceiving the common citizen with false promises. It has become synonymous with corruption and its insensitivity to the suffering of the people has led to public anger against the TDP regime, he said. Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh was like a lifeline to the state and it would be a great loss if the state is denied its due on this count, he said. He reminded the gathering that YSRCP had always been fighting for the cause of SCS. As per YS Jagan’s directions, on April 6, the YSRCP Lok Sabha members will submit their resignations, he said. The state government woke up to the plight of the suffering of the people of Prakasam district after YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Praja Sankalp Yatra approached the district. Hastily, it set up a few dialysis centres. He said that YSRCP MPs have drawn the attention of the Centre to the flouride problem that had been afflicting the district.
