Vayalar Ravi too says no timeframe to settle ‘T’ demand

Now it is another Union Minister, Vayalar Ravi, to say that Telangana issue will not be settled in the near future.

Ravi said in New Delhi today that there is no deadline as such to take a decision on the contentious demand of statehood for Telangana.

“Besides Telangana demand, there are several other problems the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre is facing,” the Union Minister told mediapersons. “And, there is no time frame to settle the Telangana,” he pointed out. Consultations with the stake holders in Telangana issues are continuing, Ravi said and maintained that he could not say till how long the discussions would continue.

Vayalar Ravi’s today’s remarks assume significance against the backdrop of recent statement made by his colleague and Congress Andhra Pradesh affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad in Hyderabad that there is no timeframe to settle the Telangana tangle. Azad’s remarks attracted large-scale criticism not only from the leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which is spearheading the separate state movement, but also from the senior Congress leaders.
