Vajpayee to become 'Bharat Ratna' on Friday evening

Former Prime Minster of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be bestowed with the Bharat Ratna at his residence on the evening of March 27. President of India Pranab Mukherjee will personally call on Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his residence along with Prime Minster of India Narendra Modi.

 Atal Bihari Vajpayee,90 was a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) served as a Prime Minster of India twice. He has served over four decades as a parliamentarian.

Accolades are pouring in for Vajpayee on the occasion. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said Vajpayee is a truly great statesman who richly deserves this honour.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh, said Vajpayee was an international icon who is respected and loved by one and all.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said it was an honor to serve under Vajpayee. Omar, worked as Minister of State for External Affairs in the Vajpayee-led NDA government
