Day 2, Vempally, YSR district: When the Leader of Opposition and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy set out on his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, the warmth and fervour with which he was welcomed by men, women and children, cutting across all age groups and segments, had to be seen to be believed. People vied with each other to get a picture taken, girls decorated streets and front-yards of their houses with rangoli.
Farmers speaking to Sakshi TV lamented the loss to their crops and the apathy of the Chandrababu Naidu government. Women felt betrayed by the state government and said that none of the promises made by Chandrababu had been fulfilled. A woman farmer said that be it education or agriculture, YS Jagan alone could alleviate the plight of the suffering masses. Even as they were speaking, shouts of "Jagan ravali, Jagan kavali" rent the air.
People lamented that loans were not waived, promised jobs not generated, pensions for widows and the disabled had dried up. Youth lamented that they were not finding jobs, while farmers said their crops did not fetch the expected price and the government did little to offset or subsidize the loss. They told our correspondent that people were vexed with the Chandrababu Naidu government and expressed their ire at the hurdles being created by him in Praja Sankalpa Yatra. They added that the surging crowds were going to swell further with each passing day and that people were walking with the Leader of the Opposition spontaneously.
