Uproar in Assembly during Vijayamma's speech

YSR-CLP leader YS Vijayamma on Friday expressed surprise at why the main opposition TDP was against the no-confidence motion.

Speaking on the debate over the no-confidence motion in the Assembly, Vijayamma said it was a matter of concern for moving no-trust motion against the Government which had come to power with effort of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. There was uproar from the TDP, Congress benches when she alleged that the ruling Congress and the Opposition TDP had colluded.

Vijayamma said Chandrababu was criticising ruling Congress during his padayatra, but when the time arrived to dethrone the Government by voting in favour of a no-confidence motion, he was remaining silent. She said she was unable to understand the attitude of Chandrababu. Vijayamma said that the State had never experienced power crisis like this and the industries were incurring heavy losses. Power cuts were haunting the industrial units. The workers were losing employment and that the small industries were the worst-hit. Those who had been given free power by YSR are now levied heavy power charges. She demanded that the payments of loans taken by the industrialists should be rescheduled.

Vijayamma further said the State economy was in complete distress and the rice quota for the poor has not been hiked from 30 kg. The welfare schemes introduced by late YSR had not been implemented. She came down heavily against the Government for not anticipating the power crisis. Now, the State was reeling under a severe power crisis as a result of the inaction of the Govt. The situation would have been better if the Govt had taken remedies to get gas. The Govt has no moral right to play with the lives of the people. There was no power tariff hike when YSR was the Chief Minister. Now the power tariff hikes are making the common man spend life in the dark. Surcharges being levied for the power used in the previous year is a matter of pity, she criticised.

Vijayamma said petrol and diesel prices were hiked several times and the LPG price was not within the reach of the common people. The farmers were deprived of support price and they incurred heavy losses due to untimely rains. The Govt failed to control terror attacks and the people of the State were in jeopardy with lopsided policies of the State Government, Vijayamma observed. The Congress and TDP members raised objections several times during Vijayamma's speech in the Assembly.
