Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) SC/ST Teachers' Forum staged a protest on Monday alleging that casteist discrimination was meted out to the convener of the forum – Prof. Sudhakar Babu and demanded an apology from Vice Chancellor Prof. Appa Rao Podile.

The faculty members and students raised slogans at the administrative building for the discrimination by removing Prof Sudhakar from the panel that looks after the academic decisions of the college.

"A meeting was to be organized to review and discuss issues related to the Academic Staff College, Prof. Sudhakar was shocked to find that his name was not listed in the list of invitees to the meeting that was supposed to be headed by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Appa Rao Podile," the forum said in a press release.

The members allege that administration targeted the Prof. Sudhakar as he was an active member of justice for Rohith Vemula movement

The forum added that Prof Sudhakar was served notice ahead of the meeting to make himself available for the meeting, that is outside the venue, to give suggestion whenever called upon.

“This is a blatant act of discrimination and no university treats a coordinator like this”, said a forum member, adding that the act further instigates hostility and violence towards Dalit students, teachers, administrative staff and the workers.

The members allege that administration targeted the Prof. Sudhakar as he was an active member of justice for Rohith Vemula movement.

Meanwhile, Pro Vice Chancellor Vipin Srivastava assured to look into the matter by forming a committee.
