Hyderabad: Yet another senior TDP leader and ex-minister A. Uma Madhava Reddy is all set to join Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Wife of the late former Home Minister A. Madhava Reddy, Uma entered active politics after her husband was killed by naxalites in a bomb blast at Ghatkesar in 1999 and served as a minister in TDP government during early 2000s.

After winning three consecutive elections from Bhongir constituency, Uma last in 2014 election to TRS candidate Pailla Sekhar Reddy. Though she was not very active in public life after she faced defeat, Uma is believed to have decided to join TRS mainly for the political future of her son Sandeep Reddy after her parent party TDP was disintegrated.

It may be recalled here that the Telangana TDP was reduced to a non-entity after its legislative party leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao and its executive president Revanth Reddy joined TRS and Congress respectively. Most of its MLAs including Talasani Srinivas Yadav (Sanathnagar), G. Sayanna (Secunderabad Cantonment), Madhavaram Krishna Rao (Kukatpally), Prakash Goud (Rajendranagar), and other leaders deserted their party to join TRS after 2014 elections.

After meeting Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday, Uma told reporters that she will be joining TRS on Thursday, Dec 14. Her son Sandeep Reddy also will join TRS.

Uma was in news after it was reported that she had links with Nayeemuddin after the gangster was killed last year. However, she and her son Sandeep denied any links with the gangster and alleged that TRS was trying to falsely implicate in the case.
