Responding to latest media reports highlighting the role of a former TDP minister in Nayeem’s underworld activities, Uma Madhava Reddy along with her son Sandeep Reddy spoke to the media on Thursday.

Hyderabad: Former TDP minister in the united AP and the widow of former home minister Alimineti Madhava Reddy, Uma Madhava Reddy has ruled out allegations of her links with slain gangster Nayeem. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Uma Madhava Reddy demanded judicial inquiry to establish if her family had association with the gangster.

She further said: “I am using the phone number since the days of my husband Madhava Reddy. If hundreds of calls are made from this phone, the government can get the call data and find out the fact. The ruling party in Telangana in an attempt to shield top leaders, is dragging myamily into this issue. I don’t trust SIT investigation into cases against Nayeem and demand judicial inquiry into this. If proven guilty, am ready to go to jail.”

Responding to latest media reports highlighting the hand of a former TDP minister in Nayeem’s underworld activities, Uma Madhava Reddy along with her son Sandeep Reddy convened a press conference.

“Our family’s history is well-known in Telangana and even AP. Our family has always served the people and worked for the development of constituency. Our family is never involved in real estate business, money lending or in encouraging mafia. The government is deliberately targeting my family. I had security when I was MLA. The police can inquire the then gunmen whether I had sheltered Nayeem and provided medical treatment to him.”

Sandeep Reddy has pointed out that the names coming to light in the wake of investigation against Nayeem are of those with TRS. Several leaders from TDP and Congress joined TRS in the presence of Telangana minister Jagadeeshwara Reddy.

“There were no land settlements and extortion until 2004 during the TDP ruling. After Congress came to power, all the underworld activities began. I ask police department to make Nayeem’s diary public. Either the TDP or our family has no connections with Nayeem. We demand judicial inquiry into all the activities since the Naxalite days of Nayeem. We had given TDP B form to Pasham Srinu, but he lost the elections. This happened 10 years ago. Now, we don’t have any relation with him,” said Sandeep Reddy.
