Hyderabad: In a bid to promote cultural exchange between two countries, Britain will be sending 500 students to visit Indian universities who will stay be staying here for a year.
Addressing the media persons, Alan Gemmell Obe, Director of British Council India, said the programme especially focuses on cultural ambitions and the role in education.
“Our work in the field of education and in exchange programmes is in our hearts as far as India is concerned and we are committed to increase the interaction quotient,” said Alan.
Out of 500 students, 30 will be spending their time in university of Hyderabad, while some will be interning in Tata Consultancy Services.
Alan further said, “We have been here so long and our libraries are a critical part of the learning of youth here. Hence, our endeavor to offer more to children here,” he added.
The others who were present were Mei Kwei Barker, Director, South India of the British Council and Ranjana Rudra Head of the Council here in Hyderabad.
