Two Yemeni students held for selling narcotics in Banjara Hills

Two Yemeni students were today arrested from posh Banjara Hills area here for selling Khat leaves, a narcotic drug, police said.

Emad Saif Mohammed, a MBA student and Mohd Ali, a degree student, were apprehended after sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (West Zone) raided a premises on a tip-off that the duo was selling Khat leaves to fellow foreigners after procuring the contraband from Ethopia, they said.

Emad and Ali came to India on student visa and they along with one Shahid from Hyderabad, who is absconding, procured Khat leaves from Ethopia through Mumbai and were selling them for around Rs 2,000.

Khat leaf is an illegal drug falling under Schedule-I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and it comes under the purveiw of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS), police said.
