Two days left for Vijayamma's fee deksha

YSR Congress honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma  will undertake a two-day hunger-strike in Hyderabad on September 6-7 to protest against the dilution of fee reimbursement scheme by the Congress government.

The late CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced the fee reimbursement scheme with the objective of ensuring higher and professional education to all deserving poor students in the state.

Vijayamma said that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government, however, has diluted the scheme, defeating its very purpose. She would sit on a hunger-strike demanding that the fee reimbursement scheme be implemented without any dilution so that all needy students could pursue higher and professional education. The scheme pertains to reimbursement by the State Government fees paid by the poor students of engineering and professional courses. A controversy erupted after the Government mulled the idea of putting a cap on the amount to be reimbursed towards the tuition fees.
