Two CMs before the elections ?

Ending days of speculations, Congress High Command has decided to opt for two Chief Ministers for both Telangana and Seemandhra, instead of imposing President's rule. However, till these appointments are made, President’s rule may be imposed.

As Rajya Sabha also approved the Telangana bill on Thursday, the process of formation of Telangana is almost complete. The last nail, would be President's nod, which is but a mere formality. Pranab Mukherjee may give his nod for the bill by the end of this month.

At present, there are 294 seats in the state assembly. Of them, there are 175 seats in Seemandhra region and 119 seats in Telangana region. As the Congress party has more seats than other parties in both the new states to be formed, the party only will form the government in both the states.

Even though some Congress MLAs have left the party due to the existing political situations, the Congress party can still form the government in Seemandhra state too.

Latest reports suggest that Kanna Laxminarayana and Jaipal Reddy may take over as the chief ministers in Seemandhra and Telangana states respectively. However, some other names are also doing the rounds in both the new states.
