TS EAMCET-2: One more arrested, Rs 50 lakh seized

CID officials arrested one more key person involved in TS EAMCET-2 question paper leakage case on Friday afternoon.

Hyderabad:  Intensifying the probe into the TS EAMCET-2 question paper leakage case that’s rocking both the Telugu states, Central Investigation Department (CID) on Friday afternoon arrested one more vital accused Ramesh alias Shaik Raheem. The CID officials have recovered the cash amount of Rs 37.5 lakh from the account of the Ramesh and Rs.15 lakhs from his friends’ accounts.

The officials said that Ramesh collected a whopping amount of nearly Rs.1.73 crore from total 14 students. A portion of the amount was given to a broker who collected the money from the students.

Briefing about the modus operandi of the criminals, a spokesperson from CID said the ‘brokers’ took some of the students they ‘endorsed’ to Pune and trained them on the question paper four days before the exam.

As of now, CID arrested three accused in the case and are searching for the other persons by concentrating on the brokers and prime accused involved in the question paper ‘leakage deal’ which is believed to be above Rs.50 crore. The sleuths have sped up the investigation to nab the remaining persons involved in the scam as early as possible.

Meanwhile, a tension like atmosphere has been created in the state for the past three days as the students and their parents had been staging demonstrations not to cancel the TS-EAMCET-2 which was conducted on July 9 for the admissions into medical courses of MBBS and BDS in Telangana.
