Cult Filmmaker Puri Jagannadh Completes 20 Years In Film Industry

HYDERABAD: The Telugu film industry boasts of a host of creative filmmakers and Puri Jagannadh is one of them. The talented Tollywood filmmaker has successfully completed 20 years in the world of cinema today. Talking about the quirky director Puri, he has the knack of narrating the story in his own distinct way and has been tagged as a 'Branded Stylish Director'. Also known to be a cult filmmaker, this Ram Gopal Varma's protégé , loves to create different genres of films unconcerned about their success at the Box Office. Puri tasted success with his first film, Badri in which Pawan Kalyan acted in the lead role. The movie, ‘Badri’ had not only changed the fate of Pawan Kalyan but also of Puri Jagannadh’s.

The 'Pokiri' director is known as the king of realistic and gritty drama, sometimes bordering bete noire with films like Neninthe, Temper and Jyothi Lakshmi. Puri Jagannadh also produces films under the banners - Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies,Vaishno Academy and the recently floated Puri Connects with actress Charmme Kaur. He also owns a music company called Puri Sangeet. Puri gave super hits and revived the careers for many heroes in Tollywood including Mahesh Babu, Ravi Teja, Jr NTR, Ram, Prabhas etc. Puri directed more than 35 films in his career spanning 20 years.

He also directed two Hindi films,one with the legend Amitabh Bachchan in a film titled ‘Buddha Hoga Tera Baap’ and another called Shart-The Challenge.

On this special occasion celebs and fans are pouring in thier wishes on social media and congratulating Puri Jagannadh on his 20 years journey in TFI.

Actress-turned producer and a close associate of Puri Jagannadh’s Puri Connects productions took to Twitter to congratulate the director.

On the professional front, Puri is directing a pan-India film with Vijay Deverakonda which is tentatively titled as Fighter. Chunkey Panday’s daughter Ananya Panday will be seen as the female lead in the movie. Major portions of the shooting has been completed, but now owing to lockdown in the country due to coronavirus outbreak, the shooting has been temporarily halted.
