Mahesh Babu ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ Beats Prabhas’ Records, Deets Inside

HYDERABAD: After raking in blockbuster collections at the box-office, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's new film "Sarileru Neekevvaru" has now broken a record on television.

The film which was telecast on the occaison of theTelugu New Year- Ugadi day, has garnered viewership ratings that are unprecedented for any Telugu film in the past.

The film saw a whopping 23.4 TVR, after it was aired on Gemini TV.This is a record for any Telugu film in the last 15 years. "Superstar @urstrulyMahesh's #SarileruNeekevvaru breaks records, scoring 23.4 TVR on Television with its recent World TV premier- the highest ever rating observed. This is phenomenal and certainly, new records set! Congratulations!" tweeted trade analyst Ramesh Bala.

The film has got 23.4 TVR which is much higher than Baahubali 1 and 2 21.84 and 22.70 TVR, respectively. After the new rating system was introduced, this is an all-time record of viewership on Telugu TV.

Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film featured Mahesh Babu in the role of an army officer. It is bankrolled by Mahesh Babu along with Anil Sunkara and Dil Raju.

Apart from Mahesh Babu the film also featured veteran actress Vijayashanthi who made her comeback into Telugu films after 13 years.

Rashmika played the female lead and Prakash Raj palyed the anatagonist in this blockbuster entertainer.

Other Telugu films that have garnered big television ratings in recent times include "Baahhubali 2: The Conclusion", "Baahubali: The Beginning", "Duvvada Jagannadham", and "Fidaa".
