Zee Telugu will be launching a new Telugu Serial - ‘No. 1 Kodalu’, which takes a new track in Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law relationships. The serial is all set to air from December 9th, 2019 at 8:00 PM on Zee Telugu and Zee Telugu HD channels..

The interesting part is that the mother-in-law is played by none other than popular dancer-actress Sudha Chandran. A popular face on Indian television and film industry she has acted in many shows in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati , Bengali and Malayalam languages, in both films and television.

With 'No 1 Kodalu’, Sudha will be making a comeback of sorts to the Telugu screen after a long gap of 35 years.

For the uninitiated, Sudha Chandran made her first foray into films way back in 1985 with the Telugu movie 'Mayuri'. The film was based on her life when she lost her leg in an accident on her way from Trichy to Chennai in 1981. She later got the Jaipur foot and resumed her dance performances.

The movie depicted on how she gets a Jaipur foot, fights all odds and starts dancing again. The movie was a huge hit , won many awards, and was a source of inspiration to many people who lost their limbs. The film was remade in Hindi with her and Shekar Suman in the lead roles.

Mumbai-based later Sudha Chandran went on to become a popular face on Indian television and film. She also continues to perform Bharathanatyam programs simultaneously.

Zee Telugu’s recent offerings such as Suryakantham, Rama Sakkani Seetha and Radhamma Kuthuru have showcased how the channel with the help of their female protagonists, has always been committed to projecting strong women characters in their shows. Women have always been portrayed in a positive role which aims towards their upliftment in society at large. Now the channel’s latest innovative offering ‘No.1 Kodalu’, aims to redefine the relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law with its unique storytelling.

Sudha Chandran will be seen as Vagdevi and the beautiful Madhumita will be seen as Saraswathi, her daughter-in- law.

The show explores the worlds of two different women with contrasting personalities, who elevate each other. Vagdevi is a businesswoman and believes education is a must to succeed in life. How Vagdevi’s life will change with the entry of her daughter-in-law Saraswathi, an illiterate and the role that she playes in educating Vagdevi on the importance of love and happiness forms the crux of the story.
