To Drive Away Non-Boarders, OU To Shut Down Hostels

Hyderabad: The Osmania University administration has decided to shut down hostels on the campus during the vacations to drive away non-boarders who do not have any connection with the university.

The decision was taken recently to create space for legitimate students. "Over 2000 students are illegally staying on the campus. They are exploiting the mess facilities and some even cooking their own food using electric stoves. Such practices have resulted in inflated mess charges of students and power bills, in addition to damaging the electric wiring," a senior professor said.

“Generally PG students vacate rooms as soon as they finish their course. The problem is with students who have double post graduations and PhD scholars. If they do not vacate it would be problem to accommodate fresh students,” the professor added.

However, it is learnt that the varsity administration has made up its mind to expel non-boarders from the hostels.
