Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in KPHB Colony; Hundis abandoned after looting

Hyderabad: Temples in the busy and rich residential KPHB Colony area have now been targeted by thieves who would usually steal valuables from the locked houses almost on a regular basis.

Not one or two but three temples in KPHB Colony - Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple near JNTU campus, Ammavari temple in Seven Hills and Venkateshwara Swamy temple at Nizampet - were plundered by miscreants on Monday night.

While the thieves made away with cash from hundis at all three the places, they also stole the diety's Panchaloha statue from Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple. They ransacked the Garbagudi areas and threw away the hundis after breaking them open and taking money.

Interestingly, the KPHB Colony police station is just a furlong away from the temple near JNTU and the thieves cared a damn. All the three incidents appeared similar and this could be a serial plunder committed by same game. They committed a theft in one of these temples a day before and Monday night it was second time. What could be the amount in Hundis is still not clear.

A dumbstruck KPHB police are investigating.
