'The speaker should have allowed voting earlier'

Hyderabad, "Don't compare state bifurcation with cricket,"said YSRCP honorary president YS VIjayamma on Thursday in Hyderabad.

She hoped that the next general elections will be held in United Andhra and added that 70% of people in Andhra Pradesh are against the bifurcation.

Expressing her happiness over the rejection of Telangana Bill through voice vote, she thanked speaker Nadendla Manohar.

"Had the speaker introduced Samaikya resolution and conducted voting on the bill earlier, the discussions wouldn't have prolonged for so long," she said.

She added that no MLA supported YSRCP when the latter asked them to resign. "It is very irresponsible on the part of the CM to not go through the Bill when it was introduced. The CM and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu are responsible for the bifurcation," Vijayamma added.

If bifurcation does take place, then both the regions will encounter only losses, said Vijayamma. "We will soon meet President Pranab Mukharjee in Delhi and urge him to keep the state united.  YS Rajashekhara Reddy fought very hard for development and welfare of the state and that is only possible if we stay united," she added.
