Telugu Woman Commits Suicide In Muscat, Family Suspects Foul Play

Hyderabad: In yet another case of Indian women facing problems in Gulf countries, a 31-year-old woman from East Godavari district ended her life at employer's house in Muscat where she went to work as a housemaid.

The deceased S. Ananthalakshmi hails from Machara in Kapileswaram and went to Muscat in Oman on March 9. Her family said that she was in touch with them till April 2 but then the agent B. Dharma Rao, who facilitated her travel process informed the family that she committed suicide by hanging herself on April 6. However, victim’s family alleged foul play and says that the woman had issues at her employer's house.

The issue has been taken up by National Workers Movement in Hyderabad which urged the union ministry of external affairs to probe the cause of the death

Victim's relative Suryanarayana said that during their talk with the woman, she expressed her desire to come back to home.

“We suspect foul play by the employer. We request your office to inquire into the cause of her death, conduct postmortem and help in transporting the body to her family,” the trust requested the ministry.
