Telanganaites in Dallas Begin Bathukamma Celebratations with Boddemma Pooja

Dallas: Telangana People’s Association of Dallas (TPAD) on Sunday celebrated Boddemma in Dallas. Worshiping Boddemma is a prelude to the grand Bathukamma celebrations, which are scheduled to be held at Dr Pepper Arean in Frisco, on October 8. Telanganaites celebrated Boddemma on a grand note at North Lake Ranch Park, Irving, Texas. It’s estimated that over 10,000 Telugu people would take part in the last day of Bathukamma festival, a day before Dasara.

Worshiping Boddemma is a prelude to the grand Bathukamma celebrations.

About 100 women participated in the celebrations. Despite the day being a working day, it was observed that the participants were enthusiastic about the celebrations. The Bathukamma is celebrated in Telengana. This is Telangana’s very own tradition of worshiping the Goddess with flowers in different theme and style.

The unity of the Telugu community was seen with participation from women from Andhra Pradesh as well. The women participants sang bathukamma songs praying the Goddess. Parents from Telangana enthusiastically participated in the Bathukamma celebrations here. Parents and grand mothers from Telangana were seen guiding the women and girls in performing the rituals of Boddemma panduga and explaining about the sequence of rituals.

Bathukamma festival is Telangana’s very own tradition of worshiping the Goddess with flowers in different theme and style.

Elaborating the preparations and plans on Bathukamma and Dasara, Ajay Reddy Eleti, Chair of Foundation Committee, said: “A team of 60 TPAD committee members and a dedicated Telugu community volunteers are working round the clock to decorate the massive stadium for the celebrations. We expect over 10,000 people would attend the Bathukamma and Dasara celebrations.”

He conveyed his special thanks to the sponsors, who are donating generously for the grand event, and Telugu community organizations, who have been standing by TPAD for the past few years in supporting the mammoth effort.

The Executive team of TPAD lead by Convenor Sudhakar Kalasani, Secretary Karan Poreddy, Co-Convenor Sumana Basani, Past Convenor Madhavi Sunki Reddy, Ramana Lashkar (Joint Secretary),, Chair of Board of trustees Ram Annadi and TPAD advisors Indu Pancherupula and Santosh Kore coordinated the event.

Ajay Reddy, Chairman and Raghuveer Bandaru, Vice-Chairman along with TPAD’s Foundation Committee members Rao Kalvala, Janaki Mandadi, Upender Telugu, Mahendar Kamireedy, Raj Gondhi, Board of trustees, Pavan Gangadhara (Coordinator), Ganga Devara (Vice-Chair), Ashok Kondala, Praveen Billa, Manohar Kasagani, Madhavi Sunkireddy and Rajender Todigala.

Women participated with great enthusiasm and sang Bathukamma songs praying the Goddess.

TPAD advisors are Venu Bhagyanagar, Vikram Janagam, Naresh Sunkireddy, Jaya Telakalapalli, Ravi Shankar Patel.

The executive committee, TPAD advisors and collaboration committee planned and are executing the Boddemma and Bathukamma celebrations.
