Auto Showrooms, Spare Parts, Electronic Shops To Re-open In Telangana From Saturday

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government on Friday decided to allow Automobile shops, spare parts shops, and electronic shops to reopen from May 16, Saturday as part of a phased exit strategy from the Coronavirus-induced lockdown in the state. These business entities should however strictly follow physical distancing and other preventive measures.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao during a high-level review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan here stated that there are no active coronavirus cases in Telangana except four zones in Hyderabad such as LB Nagar, Malakpat, Karvan, and Charminar falling within the GHHMC limits.

He said only 1,442 families are under containment. Though cases of migrant workers with COVID-19 symptoms are being detected in the districts of Yadadri Bhongir, Jangaon, and Mancherial, he said that all these patients were shifted to Hyderabad for treatment and there were no active cases in these three districts.

Maintaining that the lockdown restrictions should be strictly implemented, KCR said that the future strategy to be adopted in Telangana would be chalked out after weighing in the Centre’s fresh guidelines post May 17th when the ongoing lockdown ends.

All the government offices including sub-registrar offices and RTA offices are functioning normally. “As the Central government is expected to issue fresh guidelines after the ongoing lockdown concludes on May 17, the State government will finalise its strategy for the future course of action in a couple of days,” he added.

The Chief Minister cautioned the officials to be alert and take all necessary precautionary measures with regard to passengers arriving in the State by flights and trains. He said air passengers arriving at Shamshabad airport must be screened and those from Telangana State must be kept in-home quarantine. Passengers with symptoms will be shifted to hospitals immediately. Passengers of other states deplaning at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad will be shifted to their respective states by special buses.

On Friday, 40 new cases of coronavirus were registered in Telangana. Of them, 33 are from within GHMC limits and and migrants tested positive for the dreaded virus.
