3 More Deaths In Telangana, All Markaz Related; 30 New Cases

HYDERABAD: 30 new fresh cases and three fatalities due to novel coronavirus were reported on Wednesday in Telangana taking up the numbers to 127, health minister Etela Rajender said. All of them who have tested positive are those who have gone to Markaz and their family members.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao conducted a high alert meeting on the outbreak of virus in the state at Pragati Bhavan on Wednesday in the presence of senior officials. The CMO later issued a statement.

As per the statement, out of three, two persons died at Gandhi Hospital and one at Yashoda Hospitals. Three of them were also Markaz returnees. With this, the death toll in Telangana has soared to 9.

There is a need to conduct tests on 300 more who went to Markaz. Govt is urging those who went to Markaz, their family members and those who came in contact with them have to undergo tests without failure, CMO tweeted.

A 50-year-old corona victim, who died in Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday is among 9 fatalities. However, the brother of the deceased, who was being treated in the same ward, attacked the doctors. This caused tension in Gandhi hospital's corona ward. On alerting about the incident, police hesitated to enter the corona ward. However, CP Anjani Kumar reached the venue and mended the situation. Also, action was taken to prevent any such undesirable events.

Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital Shravan said that the incident was brought to the notice of the Minister of Health. The attack on doctors during such a difficult time is not right, he added.
