Hyderabad:Hyderabad: While the governments at the Centre and in states are strictly enforcing preventive measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus, an MLA of the ruling TRS in Telangana has caused flutters by refusing self-quarantine for COVID-19.

TRS MLA Koneru Konnappa, who along with his wife is said to have returned from the US, refused to comply with the self-quarantine which is being enforced in the nationwide fight against COVID-19.

The ruling party legislator’s defiance, coming particularly in the wake of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao giving a clarion call to the people to observe self-isolation, is raising eyebrows.

Koneru Konnappa, along with his wife, has just landed in the city from the US and immediately took a train to Kagaznagar. What’s more, Konappa himself, being a legislator, is said to be involved in a few awareness events taken up in his own constituency as part of the state government’s drive against the killer virus.

Under strict guidelines from the Centre, people coming to India from countries affected by Coronavirus must keep themselves in self-isolation for at least 14 days.
