TRS Protest Against Centre’s Delay In GST Payment Dues, RS Adjourned

NEW Delhi : Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party leaders protested over the PM Narendra Modi Government delay in payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST) dues to the Telangana state in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, which resulted in the adjournment of the upper House till noon.

Some of the house members along with TRS MPs had given notice for raising the GST issues but House Chairman did not considered that.

Venkaiah Naidu said that the GST issue had been discussed earlier and hence could not be permitted the discussion on GST again.

TRS Parliamentary Party leader and Rajya Sabha member K. Keshava Rao, Vijay Sai Reddy of YSR Congress, Vivek Tankha of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh are the leaders who wanted discussion on GST issues.

Added to that, several state finance ministers had also expressed their concern over the delay in GST compensation for the months of August and September which forced them to resort to ways and means or even overdraft.

Nine states have complained against centre government over delay in GST compensation dues and appealed to the Centre to make timely payments as promised at the time of the GST launch.

Even Trinamool Congress' Rajya Sabha member Manas Ranjan Bhunia said that the centre government had cleared the dues to West Bengal for August and September months. But the compensation is pending for the months of October and November.
