HYDERABAD: Taking a serious view of the present condition of Musi river that flows right in front of its premises Telangana High Court on Monday asked the state government to come up with an action plan within four weeks to get rid of river dirt, waste and debris.

The court was also annoyed by the state government for lacking the will power to clean the river. The bench consisting of CJ Chauhan and Justice A Abhishek Reddy heard two Public Interest Litigations (PIL). Stating that nothing was being done to rescue the river, the bench said, "When Rajasthan could rejuvenate its polluted river in Jaipur and Gujarat could cleanse its Sabarmati in Ahmedabad, why cannot Telangana do the same to it Musi?"

The bench ticked of the government and said that they are still waiting to see the words of the chairman of the Musi River Development Authority, who had assured to clean the Musi river within 3 months.

The court also cited the examples of Udaipur in Rajasthan where the eight lakes were restored. The bench also mentioned that the lakes in Hyderabad are in horrible condition. They stated that when Udaipur can restore its lakes then why Telangana cannot save its water bodies?
