TSRTC JAC, Govt Talks Face A Road Block, Session Concludes Midway

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Saturday held talks with the trade union leaders of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), who have been on an indefinite bus strike since October 5 in Hyderabad.

The TSRTC JAC are firm on their 22 demands including the merger of TSRTC with the state government but the Government has agreed to come to a conclusion with 21 of their demands. The one demand of the merging of the TSRTC with the Government is the only demand the TSRTC And the Government cannot see eye to eye on. This one demand caused for the session talks to conclude mid-way, way before the meeting was slated to end.

This development comes 22 days after more than 48,000 employees of the TSRTC began their strike, after putting forth a set of demands including the merger of the TSRTC with the state government.

The High Court of Telangana had directed both the government and JAC leaders to hold discussions. but the TSRTC trade unions are firm about their Demands and have taken the decision to go ahead with their protests and strike.
