TSRTC Plans Strike

Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has served a strike notice to the management, demanding the merger of TSRTC into Telangana Government. On the other hand, TSRTC is planning to run special buses during Dasara.

TSRTC has planned special buses during the Dasara season keeping in view the festive rush. TSRTC deployed 4,933 special buses to meet the festive rush during Dasara, the buses have been deployed between Telugu states along with Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, and Shirdi. These buses will be available to passengers from MGBS, CBS, JBS and Dilsukhnagar bus stops.

"TSRTC also planned to run buses directly from the colonies for the ease of passengers living in the city's suburban colonies," Said RTC Rangareddy Regional Manager B Vara Prasad. These special buses will be operating from 27th September to 7th October in view of the festive holidays. An additional 3,236 buses will be operated on between October 4 to 7 keeping in view of the huge rush.

The Telangana government even planned to increase buses for places like Vijayawada, Vizianagaram, Tenali, Guntur, Gudivada, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Razole, Polavaram, Machilipatnam, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Tanuku, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Bhimavaram,Narsapuram, Kurnool, Anantapuram, Kadapa, Chittoor, Ongole, Nellore, Tirupati, Udayagiri, Kanigiri, Kandukur, Pamuru and Podili. TSRTC Management had even advised travellers to make advance bookings.

The trade unions, on the other hand, are preparing for a strike during these festive days. Two JACs were formed with the main demand to merge TSRTC and Telangana government. JACs have announced that they will go on a strike to protect the safety and security of thousands of workers from September 27.

In this situation, there is a dilemma over handling of Dasara special buses by TSRTC. If the strike is inevitable, travelers will be in serious trouble. The status of Tickets in regular trains to various parts of Telugu states have already reached the regret stage. There are hundreds of waiting lists on special trains. There is no other option except RTC buses. Buses are not likely to move unless trade unions postpone their strike or withdraw their decision. Let's wait and watch what happens.
