Hyderabad: This could be the most serious arrest case you could have ever heard of! But this has happened. Two habitual offender goats were arrested in Huzurabad, Karimnagar district, Telangana on Tuesday for grazing on saplings planted under the 'Haritha Haram' initiative of the Telangana government.

Reports suggest that the goats were let off after the owner paid a fine of Rs 1,000.

NGO 'Save The Trees' complained that the goats had been repeatedly destroying wild almond saplings planted under the Huzurabad municipality. Around 980 wild saplings were planted, of which 250 were eaten by the goats.

Although complaints were made to the police, on Tuesday the goats were caught 'red-handed' and handed over to the police.

A leading daily said that the goats were released only after the owner Dornakonda Rajaiah, a resident of Kummariwada paid a fine of Rs 1,000 to free them.

Police also warned him to graze his goats on the outskirts and not to leave them unattended.
