A cop in Mahabubnagar was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe

Mahabubnagar: A cop in Mahabubnagar was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe after he was honoured with Best Constable Award on Independence Day in the district.

Palle Thirupathi Reddy, a constable in I-Town Police station from Mahabubnagar received the Award and citation from the Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud in the presence of Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeswari on Independence day.

A day later he was caught by the ACB for accepting a bribe of Rs 17000 from a man, Ramesh.

The complainant, Ramesh, had claimed that he was constantly harassed by the police to pay him bribes while transporting sand even though he had valid documents.

He was fed up with this and approached ACB and filed a case against the policeman. With the help of ACB, the cop was caught redhanded with Rs 17000 which ACB recovered from his back pocket.

After his arrest, Thirupathi Reddy was presented before an ACB court and sent him to judicial custody.
