Telangana Liquor Sales Highest In Southern States, IMFL Demand Up 30%

Demand for Indian Made Foreign Liquor has gone up in Telangana from last year. As per sales record, the sales of IMFL have gone up by 30% when compared to last year. In 2019 July, the liquor sales figure was Rs 907 crore while last year it was Rs 744 crore which shows a jump of 30%, excise officials stated.

Sales of whisky, vodka, rum and brandy have gone through the roof, they added. 14,82,567 boxes had been sold till July 16, 2019 when in the corresponding period last year some 12, 72, 276 boxes were sold, as per data release by the excise department.

The continuous elections in the state is being seen as the reason for this meteoric rise in the sales of IMFL. An official aid that the number of people visting wine stores had gone up and the trend is expected to remain steady.

The official also stated that people in Hyderabad preferred imported brands even though they were super expensive. Royal Stag, Officer's Choice and McDowell were hot favourites. Among all the southern states, Telangana recorded the highest growth os liquor sales.
