Naxal Scare Sends Police On Telangana – Chhattisgarh Into A Tizzy

Bhupalapalli: The idyllic villages on Telangana-Chhattisgarh border are once teeming with activity following the killing of TRS leader Srinivasa Rao by Naxals a week ago. With fear gripping the villages and security agencies that Maoists are once again regrouping and could launch flash attacks, police on the State border are on tenterhooks. A red alert has already been sounded.Against this backdrop, the surveillance carried out by increased number of policemen in Eturunagaram Agency area in Mulugu district is spreading fear among tribals. Intelligence inputs are warning local security agencies that Maoists could once again target the police informers.

Police have intensified searches and checks in Govindaraopeta, Eturu Nagaram, Vajedu and Venkatapuram agency areas. Surveillance is being carried out on the movements of former Naxals. Police have already advised local elected representatives who could be probably targeted to run for cover in the mainland. Advisories have been sent out to Ministers and MLAs to refrain from visiting Agency areas. Security has been beefed up at all local police stations.

Intelligence inputs obtained by security agencies point out that Maoists are planning for a major encounter. So, the Agency areas on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border are in the grip of fear.
