Telangana Govt Seeks ADB

Hyderabad: The Telangana government Friday urged the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to partner with the state in the development of roads and other sectors.

"This is an opportunity. I would like to impress upon ADB particularly because we don't have any single project presently funded by the ADB in the state," vice-chairman and managing director of Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) E V Narasimha Reddy said.

He was speaking at a seminar on 'International Business Opportunities under ADB-funded Projects' organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI).

He highlighted various major projects and the infrastructure available here, besides the presence of good eco-system in the state.

He requested the ADB to consider supporting two industrial corridors -- one from Hyderabad towards Warangal and another one from Hyderabad towards Nagpur.

The state government is preparing a detailed project report (DPR) on the corridors for submission to the Centre, he said.

ADB's senior procurement officer (South Asia) Chandra Mohan Arora spoke about the bank's mandate and other issues related to it.

In India, the cumulative lending, grant and technical assistance commitment of ADB as on December 31, 2018 is USD 43.81 billion, said a press release.
