KCR To Lay Foundation Stone For New Secretariat, Assembly Today

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will lay the foundation stone for the new Secretariat and Assembly buildings on Thursday. At 11 am, KCR will lay the foundation stone for the new Secretariat building next to the D Block.

The new Secretariat to be built at a cost of Rs 400 crore will come up on the old Secretariat premises whereas the new Assembly building (housing both Assembly and Legislative Council) at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore will be constructed at Erram Manzil. The new assembly building will be located in the space between the Red Mansion Palace and the R&B office building. The foundation stone will be laid by the Chief Minister at 12 am. The state government intends to dismantle the historic Red Palace Palace and construct the new assembly building while constructing the new secretariat building on the existing premises.

Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Corporation Chairman and JDP Chairperson are invited to attend the event. KCR will host a lunch for them at Pragati Bhavan at 1 pm. The Chief Minister will attend a party meeting at Telangana Bhavan at 2.30 pm. Officials said that a cabinet sub-committee constituted by Ministers Kopula Eshwar and V Srinivas Goud, headed by minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, will study the construction of new secretariat and assembly buildings on Thursday.
