Hyderabad: A man hailing from the Telugu states, Avinash Kuna (32) died while celebrating his birthday on Saturday. The incident took place in Lake Hopatcong in New Jersey. According to the reports by local media, Avinash (32) along with three of his friends had gone to the lake in a rented boat to celebrate his birthday.

However, as soon as Avinash stepped into the water, he cried for help as he began to drown. His friends made attempts to help him with a life vest but Avinash couldn't reach it.

An eye-witness reported the incident saying that Avinash panicked and “fell out of his vest” and later went under water. One of his friends shared that one of them jumped into the water with a life vest but was pulled back since his vest came off as well.

Not knowing what to do, they called Bridge Marina and 911 for help. The divers from the Marine Services Bureau searched the area and retrieved the body early on Tuesday. The area is known to be suitable for swimming as it is filled with lots of weeds and mud.

As per his Facebook account, Avinash, a resident of Parsippany worked as a systems programmer for United Parcel Service (UPS) and was the founder of a software development company. Upon learning the demise of Avinash, his mother has been hospitalized, as per the reports. The body would be flown back to India after it is released by the Medical Examiner’s office. His friends have set up a GoFundMe page to help his family.
