Only 1,137 Of 3.8 Lakh Students Pass After Telangana Inter Results Re-Evaluation

Hyderabad: Only 1,137 candidates passed out of the 3,82,116 who failed the Intermediate examinations conducted by the TSBIE after the re-evaluation results were declared on Monday evening.

A total of 9,02,429 answer scripts were re-evaluated by a team of 5,831 lecturers.

The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education said that 552 and 585 candidates from the first and second year respectively passed the exam after the re-evaluation of their papers.

The candidates can download the revised marks and the scanned copies of the answer scripts on Tuesday evening.

Following the inter-results fiasco that claimed the lives of 23 students, the Telangana High Court had instructed the board for re-verification of the failed candidates. The results came up by 5 pm on May 27 according to the court's directive.

B Janardhan Reddy, secretary, education told a leading daily that the Board was planning to release the results by afternoon, but however, it took some time as the process was lengthy. He said the all the 25pages of every answer scripts had to be uploaded even if the candidates used only 2 pages.

In the second level, the scripts are being checked using Artificial intelligence and scanning of 19,788 answer scripts is under the process, a release by the BIE read.

After the results were getting delayed, it was speculated the software firm that had taken up the task, Globerena Technologies Private Limited, was at fault again. However, Globerena CEO VSN Raju told the leading daily that there were no mistakes on their part.

The firm came under severe criticism following the goof-up. Many wanted the Board to discontinue their services and not take up the re-evaluation of the papers. However they continued, but another firm Datatech Methodex Pvt Ltd was brought in to conduct parallel checks.
